Jasmin Huber, an Erasmus+ exchange program student from Germany, was pleasantly surprised by the Estonian mentality.

I am Jasmin Huber, an Erasmus+ exchange program student who studied Start-up Entrepreneurship at the Estonian Entrepreneurship University of Applied Sciences. I am from Germany and I’m studying Business Administration in Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg Karlsruhe.

I did not know much about Estonia before arriving here, so I did not expect much. But when I came here, I was pleasantly surprised to find quite a few similarities with Germany. It just gets dark early. I have learned a lot about the Estonian mentality. In the beginning, I felt that people here are kind of cold, just like the weather here, but I made many friends once I got to know them.

I decided to take up most of the courses from the Start-up Entrepreneurship program during my time here. I wanted to participate in the Erasmus+ exchange program because I wanted to improve my English skills by studying English and because I was interested in learning about different cultures. I also participated in a start-up competition, where one can visit a workshop and develop ideas over three months. At the end of it, we were required to pitch a business idea we had been developing for the previous three months. Our group reached the finals, and we won some special prizes.
I have not yet decided about my future beyond finishing my studies, which remain my priority. Beyond that, I would decide whether I want to work in some company to gain professional experience or continue travelling. I want to wait and watch what unfolds.
